Just a very quick one to say I’m pretty disappointed to be stuck in Dundee this weekend. If anyone is in Aberdeen, or going to be there on Saturday, check out Tea Cosy!
Fantastic! Winter has showed up already and it’s not even December! I haven’t seen snow this bad around here since I was very small. I think I enjoyed it more the first time around… I didn’t have to worry about how I would make it to work the next day. Also got some thunder snow (I think that’s what it is called) very early today, something that I had never seen before. Lightning, thunder and snow all in one, how crazy is that! There’s already a Facebook page for it too! An absolutely astounding way to wake up in the morning.
Went for a lovely shopping spree in Glasgow on Friday. Twas brilliant. I forgot how much fun it was to do shopping in Glasgow, there are so many different places to go to. Such a lovely sunny day too. Of course, we made it home just in time for the blizzard. The weatherman really wasn’t kidding about Siberian winds. *shivers*
I need to order some more materials from online, but I think I’ll wait until the weather has cleared up a bit and I know the things will actually be arriving when they say they will! I want to try working with plastics and metals instead of wood and paper. It seems really interesting and I want to get some new pieces started before the New Year.
Also fingers crossed I can drive my car tomorrow – my windshield wiper decided it couldn’t take the weight of the snow and has since decided to pretty much fall off the window. *sigh*
Alrighty, first of all I had an awful lot of things on the go this week (non-art related, mores the pity) so really feel like I’ve been falling behind on everything. I blame ‘Heart of Darkness’, once you start reading it, you can’t put it down and its not the quickest book to read through! But this week anyway, I am determined to make up for it.
Tomorrow, I’m going to get a real move on with the canvas pieces I started the other week. I can’t wait to get my hands all messy and cover myself in mod roc and acrylics. One of these days I will learn to paint without getting myself covered from head to toe in paint and various other materials that are obscenely difficult to clean.
Tonight, I think I might make up some little boxes… just to try something new, and see how it goes. I’m also going to figure out my latest pendants and then I think I’ll try for some earrings. Hitting a major wall with these pendants at the moment though.. Who would think making jewellery would be so difficult, hah!? Although I eventually managed to finish my last few pieces after several frustrations. I really am a perfectionist.
I plan on having enough pieces by the end of the year to open up a shop by 2011, so I have my incentive to keep on going!
Got rid of those blues eventually. They took their time to go mind you.
Almost finished my next set of jewellery, ‘I Lost My Heart’ series, I just need to actually buy the things I need for them. A trip to town will be in order as soon as my car has decided it will let me change gears when I want *mutter*. I need a general stock up anyway. It’s that time of year where I let everything go back down to the bare bones.
Once I’ve bought a few more pieces I can get on with my paintings too. I have about 7 or 8 on the go just now, I find it easier this way as it allows you time to turn away from one piece of work and then have a fresh set of eyes the next time you look back at it – with plenty to do in the meantime.
Anyway, just a quick note today. I’m in the mood for painting more than blogging!
Well, it’s the end of the weekend and I still haven’t managed to get rid of the Friday blues. Managed to get excited about a few new projects I’m about to start, but my heart really isn’t into it at the moment. Maybe a good nights sleep will make all the difference… or perhaps just a lie in is needed!
Anyway, a short and sweet blog to show off some pictures of my finished pendants. On another not, the Mod Podge I bought worked brilliantly! Every bit as good as everyone makes it out to be.
It’s coming up for the weekend and yet again I have the Friday blues. I was really looking forward to the fireworks tonight, but with the rain coming and going who knows if it’ll go on. Such a miserable day! Grr!
I’ve been looking over photographs from my day trip to Aberdeen earlier this week. Think I managed to get a few nice ones despite the bus ride being rather bumpy! I also got my findings and chains to finish off my necklaces, so I have something to do later today. I need to get on with my sketchbook too… but having one of those days where I’m just not inspired in the slightest. I just need to hope that I perk up tomorrow again! Maybe some chocolate would help… *smiles*
Yet again I’m really let down by the lack of arty/crafty supply shops in Dundee. Nice long trip round the town to leave with only a sketchbook. Oh well, something is better than nothing as they say. I think a trip to Glasgow or Edinburgh may be in order, I’m getting fed up of ordering everything from online. My poor wee pendants will have to wait for a while before they’re finished off!
Had another wander out and about today. I was planning to do some drawing in my pretty new sketchbook, however as soon as I reached my favourite spots, the inevitable happens… it started raining! Got some nice pictures of the lovely autumn colours though.
